Benefits of Piano Study
The benefits of piano study for all individuals, regardless of age or ability are significant. With practice, every student can achieve personal satisfaction in playing, and reap the benefits of creative expression, attention to detail, diligence, concentration, and improved cognitive function. In an age of instant gratification and immediate results, piano study develops perseverance and a recognition of the rewards that come from steady, long-term building of a skill.
Additionally, students who embrace a Judeo-Christian worldview will find that piano playing is a wonderful way to worship Jesus Christ.
Watching students grow musically; seeing them get excited at discovering a piece of music they love; seeing the thrill, pride and increased confidence that comes from performing a piece of music well: these are my greatest rewards as a piano teacher.
I have been teaching students how to play the piano most of my life. I love teaching and am glad to share my passion for the piano with others. There is beauty and power in music waiting for you to discover and enjoy!
I have performed numerous sacred and classical concerts over the past 35 years and published 11 recordings. I began piano study at age nine and became a student of Ray Hanson, Hart School of Music, and William Phemister, Wheaton Conservatory of Music. I also studied sacred keyboard arranging under Mr. Leonard Seidel of Grace School of Music.
